DFI Hybrid Motherboard, When Atom and Core 2 Running
Very interesting Hybrid raises the DFI P45-ION-T2A2, the curious name of a hybrid motherboard, which allows the use of two very different platforms, Intel Atom and Intel Core 2.
The board has the same dimensions as any other, although a somewhat different structure. We differentiated the bottom left, with the Atom and Ion NVidia chipset, integrated whole and sinks already installed. Then, on the right is the chipset and LGA775 socket, which we installed the Intel Core 2 micros (including Core 2 Quad Quad-Core).
Through a small controller connected to the motherboard can be configured to use both platforms. Through it can be activated, the other or even both simultaneously, although we will need two different computers that run on two monitors from the two DVI outputs integrated into the motherboard itself. The changes between one platform and another made in real time without restarting the computer, so we can leave the platform Ion Atom enabled to use the computer as a download server, and if more power (to play, for example ) by simply pressing a button, we will have the Core 2 running.
The DFI P45-Ion Hybrid-T2A2 is a hybrid technology under development, so that everything we talk can change in the final specification of the plate. Nevertheless, the possibility of having two computers in one is very interesting, first minimize the energy consumption of equipment, and otherwise optimize the use, performance and power of your computer. Of course not everything will be advantages. While no one knows when this will ship later DFI Hybrid, you can ensure that it will be very expensive, both for the novelty of the use of both platforms to bring a set of components already integrated and, a priori, not interchangeable.
There is also a plaque that the use of extra space to store all the Atom processors and chipsets NVidia Ion, enlargement will have fewer gaps, for example the test model has only one PCIe, but perhaps the final version of the plate varies in this regard.
Very interesting and promising, the DFI P45-Ion Hybrid-T2A2 and innovation is an improvement over the current plates. You might say that a plate to have two computers in one, but it remains to be seen what price to pay.
