Lightest Notebook Sony VAIO X, Price and Technical Features

Introduced at Berlin IFA 2009 fair in early September, the ultraportable and lightweight computer, Sony VAIO X 11.1 incheshas been rendered official from Japanese company. We can find Sony VAIO X technical characteristics and official selling price after several days ago it’s still full of mistery.

Sony VAIO X notebook has 665 grams weight for basic version and 13.9 millimeters thickness, it was expected that Sony VAIO X was provided with a platform a little greedy in resources, built around an Intel Atom processor or Intel CULV processors. The Sony VAIO X ultraportable notebook has an Intel Menlow platform with Intel US15W chipset and an Intel Atom Z540 Silverthorne processor at 1.86GHz, backed by 2GB of RAM and 64GB SSD drive.

Also boast Intel GMA 500 or Pouslbo for graphics component, manages a 11.1-inch matte screen with 1366 × 768 WXGA HD resolution and a webcamera with microphone. Sony VAIO X laptop completed by a card reader for SD and Memory Stick Duo, and the interfaces Wi-Fi b/g/n, audio jack, VGA, Ethernet and 2 USB 2.0. Equipped with a 2-cell battery, which provides range from 3.30 to 5 hours battery life, also installed Windows 7 Home Premium Edition. As the lightest notebook, Sony VAIO X has weighs only 665 grams and measuring 278 × 185 × 13.9 mm.

The 4-cell battery, which offers a range announced in 10 hours, brings the scales at 765 grams. The secondary 8-cell batteries are expected from November 14 and with these Sony VAIO X 1065 grams of weight and approximately 14 hours battery life. Sony VAIO X announced in three different color designs : black, charcoal and gold. The chassis of carbon fiber allows it to withstand a pressure of 150kg. Many configurations will be available such as : Atom Z530 (1.6GHz) or Z550 (2.0GHz), 128GB or 256GB SSD drive, a Bluetooth module and a module Wi-Fi a/b/g/n plus WiMAX.

The first tests, the Sony VAIO X features a score of 1248 points with 365 points with PCMark05 and 3DMark03 (1024 × 768). A 2-cell battery, its autonomy is 6:02 hours to 2:57 hours against a 4-cell battery and 12:56 hours with an 8-cell model. Regarding the price, Sony VAIO X will be sold at a cost between 110,000 until 130,000 Yen, which Sony VAIO X price is between about 1247 to 1474 dollar, or 845  until 998 euro. The Sony notebook is expected launch on October 22 in United States, Canada, Europe, and maybe also in China, Australia and Asia with the Microsoft launch of Windows 7.
